The 2019 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos des Quarts has turned out nicely offering up aromas of pear orange oil peach and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied layered and fleshy with a textural attack and a bright core of fruit it's pretty and charming. Olivier Merlin and Dominique Lafon formed a partnership to acquire the Château des Quarts in 2012. The Clos des Quarts the château's 2.23-hectare monopole in the commune of Chaintré is now farmed more seriously and vinified by Merlin at his La Roche-Vineuse winery. The 2019 rendition has turned out very nice and comes recommended.

An elegant and airy nose displays notes of citrus white peach acacia blossom and a whiff of anise. The refined but concentrated and palate coating medium-bodied flavors exude an intense minerality indeed the mouthfeel is almost Chablis-like that carries over to the very dry focused and lingering finale. Lovely. (Drink starting 2025)
