From within the heart of the Chianti Classico region comes Tignanello and Solaia. Tignanello is the Sangiovese dominated blend that includes a small percentage of Cabernet, whereas Solaia is the reverse of the blend being predominantly Cabernet with a minor percentage of Sangiovese. Both wines are sourced from key parcels at Antinori's legendary Tenuta Tignanello. In Bolgheri the Antinori's produce Guado al Tasso, the Bordeaux blend based on Cabernet. Located between Sassicaia and Ornellaia, the Antinori family deeply knows the Bolgheri region as in depth as they do in Chianti. Since the 1930s, the family has controlled Guado al Tasso and it was Piero Antinori who first assisted his relatives at Tenuta San Guido with the launch of Sassicaia. Seeing the success of Cabernet in Bolgheri, it was then Piero's brother Ludovico Antinori founded Ornellaia, while Piero began to slowly and quietly develop Guado al Tasso into the Bordeaux style vineyards that we know today. Guado al Tasso is one of the premier estates that produces some of the finest Cabernet blends in Tuscany.
