Stunning Brunello from Gianni Brunelli

Known for a more floral and transparent style of Brunello, Maria Laura Vacca Brunelli creates wines as if Montevertine made Brunello. Floral and elegant, this is an expression of Sangiovese that is more Nebbiolo-like and/or Burgundian than its peer set. 

The Brunelli Brunellos have been some of our favorite wines vintage after vintage for sometime and of course the estate had a breakout moment when the 2016 vintage received a perfect score from the Wine Advocate. The quality, character and uniqueness of this estate continued with the 2017 and 2018 vintages, where the wines were easily some of the finest of these vintage. The 2019 vintage brought about 99 point scores and converts to the Brunelli style bought up the wine as if it was Soldera.  

The 2020 vintage has arrived, and in our opinion it is a vintage that truly shows the talents and quality of the vineyards from Brunelli.  The hallmarks of the Brunelli style blend perfectly with the characteristics of the vintage.  This is one of the most ethereal and graceful Brunello we have tasted from 2020.  This is a resounding success and a great example to the elegant and refined side of Brunello di Montalcino. Much like with Soldera, at Brunelli it is not necessarily the most acclaimed vintages that everyone is dying to have in a few years, but rather the vintages where Brunelli is truly Brunelli.  This is the hallmark of great vineyards.
