Based out of Ventura California, Andremily Wines was set up by Jim Binns, formerly – and for twelve years - the cellar master at Sine Qua Non, and his wife Rachel in 2012 and produces a number of artisanal bottlings from Rhone varieties with a particular focus on Syrah and Syrah based blends. Andremily works with vineyard sites that they feel most faithfully reflect what California Syrah has to offer. The name Andremily derives from the names of their children – Andrew and Emily.

More meaty gamey notes of black raspberries blueberries ground pepper and hints of iron define the 2020 Mourvedre another incredibly powerful intense wine that stays flawlessly balanced. It's concentrated has ripe polished tannins and nicely integrated acidity all making for an incredible expression of Mourvèdre. This closes down with air so I'd recommend trying a bottle over the coming year or two or giving it 5-7 years in the cellar. This is an insanely gorgeous bottle of wine that should see its 20th birthday in fine form.

Wine Advocate: 97-99 Points

Not yet bottled the 2020 Mourvèdre blended with 12% Syrah and 2% Viognier is already offering incredible varietal character and expression. Made using 75% whole clusters fruit comes from several Central Coast vineyards including Alta Mesa (Santa Barbara County) G2 (Paso Robles) Larner (Ballard Canyon) and Slide Hill (Edna Valley). It will be matured for about 21 months with 50% in new French barriques and 600-liter demi-muids and 50% in used barriques. Deep purple-ruby in color the nose opens slowly to loamy earth dried lavender mint leaves and a pure concentrated core of cassis and baked blueberries. The palate is bursting with layer after layer of perfumed fruit. It has a fine silky texture alluring meaty accents bursts of fresh acidity highlighting its perfume and a very long layered finish. It feels very complete on the eve of its bottling scheduled for mid-August 2022 (I tasted this on May 25 2022). Around 500 cases and a few magnums will be made; it will be packaged and sold as a three-bottle box set ($330) while magnums will be sold in a box set with the 2020 Andremily No. 9.
