The 2006 Blanc de Blancs Brut 1er Cru is bright precise and finely sculpted throughout. Lemon peel mint white flowers and sage are all pushed forward with slightly richer more tropical notes that lurk in the background. Poised and beautifully centered the 2006 is a terrific choice for drinking over the next decade or so. Disgorged: 6/10/14. (Drink between 2015-2025)
Like the Special Club this is restrained and even cool with a lovely if subtle complexity to the citrus-inflected and relatively high-toned nose where there is enough yeast to notice yet it doesn't dominate the aromas. There is good verve and a relatively fine mousse supporting the delicious clean delineated flavors that possess fine and solid depth on the moderately dry but not austere finish. I very much like the style and this is a 2006 of elegance and refinement which is not always the case with this vintage. For my taste this is drinking perfectly now though it could certainly be held for a few more years first in the hopes that even more depth will develop.
