The Bedrock Wine Company is based on the concept of farming and preserving the old-vine vineyards of California. It is the old-vines dating to pre-Prohibition days that have the potential to have a root system that reaches the bedrock, the mother-rock, giving a structure, depth and minerality in the wines that shines through and apart from most California wine. 

Morgan Twain-Peterson MW and Chris Cottrell’s red wines are blends based on Zinfandel and Mataro. These are not the Zinfandel dominated wines of the 1980s and 1990s. These are powerful and structured, savory and fruity, fresh and vibrant. These are wines of refinement that are built to last. Opulence and decadence are rarely terms that we would use to describe these wines. Yes they can present a density of fruit, but that depth and mouthfeel is framed by savory tannins, vibrant acidity, and a sensation of a mouthful of pebbles. 

The consistency from vintage to vintage at Bedrock is a marvel and without question the duo produces some of the best bang for your buck red wines in California today! With much of Sonoma and Napa’s top scoring red wines running well over $100 per bottle, Bedrock produces a vast array of wines that are world-class titans, garnering some of the highest praise and admiration of any producer in California today.

What Morgan and Chris have achieved over the years is remarkable. The wines showcase the beauty and depth of the vintage, with ample fruit and structure year over year. The hard decisions and stringent selection have made Bedrock one of the most interesting and compelling projects for old-vine and heritage clones in California.

Loyal fans of Bedrock do not want to miss the opportunity to taste these wines. In our humble opinion, these just might become sleepers and cult-collectibles in ten to fifteen years from now, as there is just something about these wines that hints as they evolve and unfurl there will be so much more revealed that will be absolutely impossible to resist.
