The Aston Estate is located in a remote part of the Sonoma Coast at Annapolis in Calistoga, just five miles and two mountain ridges from the ocean. The estate originated with the purchase of a 40 acre parcel in 2000, on a gentle slope facing southwest, 14 acres of which was planted to three different types of Dijon Pinot Noir clones which produced its first vintage in 2004. The appeal of this rugged site, which was originally very difficult to access, is that it benefits from cool ocean breezes but is just outside the fog zone, so days are long and temperate. The soil is Goldridge Loam which is very suitable to Pinot Noir.
The wines are made by renowned consultant Thomas Rivers Brown.
