A cool pure and elegant nose offers up more elegant and much spicier aromas of red cherry cassis violet and anise. There is both good volume and intensity to the nicely concentrated medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the much more complex and persistent bitter cherry-inflected finish. Lovely.

The 2017 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots is a definite success displaying attractive aromas of plums wild berries dried flowers and a judicious framing of creamy new oak. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied ample and satiny with nice depth and dimension at the core tangy balancing acids and a pleasing sense of completeness. It's a charming Santenots that will drink well in its youth.
