The Vacheron family have had a presence in Sancerre for generations and in recent years it has been brothers Denis and Jean-Louis Vacheron who have been in charge but they have now handed the reins to the next generation cousins Jean-Dominique and Jean-Laurent Vacheron. At the domaine Pinot Noir is not an afterthought but a focus and on soils just a couple of hours west of Burgundy they are making grand expressive bottlings from the varietal."

Almost six years old now Vacheron's 2015 Sancerre Les Marnes has reached the perfect drinking window today. Fine pure fresh and intense with red fruit aromas remarkable precision and earthy notes on the nose this is a substantial full-bodied deep tight tense and persistent Pinot Noir with great elegance and finesse. This 2015 has developed gorgeously in the bottle and its sweetness is pure ripeness and maturity. One of the finest and most elegant 2015 Sancerre rouges I have tasted (February 2021).
