A complementary blend of lieux-dits Ormes Chalandins Réas Jaquines and Croix Blanches Mugneret's 2019 Vosne-Romanée Quatrain mingles notes of plums and sweet berry fruit with nuances of rose petals and warm spices in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied lively and concentrated with fine depth at the core and powdery structuring tannins that gently assert themselves on the finish this is very promising.
Beautiful mid purple with the most elegant of noses then a burst of ripe fruit on the palate. Certainly very ripe but equally certainly the whole bunch aspect keeps it on the rails. Delicious long finish. It has delicacy even a laciness which is unexpected in such a ripe year.
vA restrained and cool if quite pretty nose reluctantly offers up its array of spiced tea red currant plum and a top note of violet. There is good generosity to the rich and succulent yet still reasonably well-detailed flavors that conclude in a lingering and youthfully austere finish that is sufficiently well-structured to reward 6 to perhaps even 10 years of aging. (Drink starting 2026)
The 2019 Vosne-Romanée "Quatrain" which sees 25% new oak was quite muted on the nose when I tasted it from barrel despite coaxing. The palate is quite firm and structured on the entry; I like the strictness here. An almost Morey-like Vosne-Romanée with graphite-tinged red fruit on the finish. Needs time. (Drink between 2024-2038)
