The 2017 Chardonnay is pliant and expressive yet very much in the understated style that is such a Hanzell signature. Orange peel tangerine butter hazelnut and light honeyed notes are all laced together in a sublime nuanced Chardonnay that hits all the right notes. Readers who enjoy wines of transparency and nuance will find much to like in this range. The Sebella wines are highly attractive mid-tier offerings while the new de Brye Clone Pinots and Chardonnay showcase the unique character of parcels planted in 1976. This year the Cabernet Sauvignon is especially fine and offers tremendous appeal especially for readers who enjoy more classic styles.
