The reserve wines bring a delicious, savoury sense of sourdough richness to fresh clementine, lemon and pale stone fruit, the tension of classic chalky villages still present but rounded out into a wine of impressive persistence. A benchmark NV Blanc de Blancs. 100% Chardonnay from grand cru villages in the Côte des Blancs. Based on the 2018 vintage with 50% reserves from a perpetual reserve going back to 1988. (Drink between 2023-2028)

Wine Advocate: 92 Points

Based on the 2019 vintage and disgorged this year with four grams per liter dosage, Péters's NV Brut Blanc de Blancs Grande Réserve wafts from the glass with aromas of peaches, pastry cream, dried fruits, citrus oil and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and vinous, it's racy and concentrated, with a chiseled profile and a long, saline finish. The fine base vintage marks this out as a particular success.

The genial Rodolphe Péters presides over this 19-hectare reference point in Mesnil sur Oger, where Chardonnay shines at its most pure and chalky. Vinification is in stainless steel, yet grapes picked at full maturity and aging on the lees contribute texture and depth, which means that, while racy, these wines are never austere. Today, Péters is delaying his releases a little, pushing for six months more sur lattes for his flagship Les Chétillons and Montjolys bottlings, followed by a year on cork, starting with his wines from the 2017 vintage. Readers should note that the excellence of the 2019 vintage translates to unusually concentrated, serious entry-level bottlings from Péters in this set of releases, so this is definitely a year to buy across the range.

Wine Spectator: 91 Points

"In this dry Champagne a pretty floral note wafts through the flavors of fresh quince lemon peel briny mineral and green plum. This is delicate and precise with a very fine texture and lightly chalky finish. "

The new release of Rodolphe Péters ?Cuvée de Réserve? Blanc de Blancs non-vintage Brut is from the base year of 2017 and was aged two years sur latte prior to its disgorgement in March of 2020. Twenty-five percent of the vins clairs did

Vinous: 91 Points

The NV Brut Cuvée de Réserve Grand Cru is open effusive and a real delight to taste. Soaring aromatics and soft curves give this 2019-base Champagne tons of sheer appeal. Apricot tangerine peel spice and dried flowers abound in this racy open-knit Champagne. The Cuvée de Réserve is rarely this charming at this stage. The slightly lower dosage of 5 grams per liter works so well. Disgorged: August 2022. (Drink between 2024-2031)

Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points

"This is a beautifully balanced selection that?s crisp and laced with taut apple and citrus flavors. It has a rich texture intense fruit and a tight minerality which gives it structure and the potential for bottle aging."
