The Singularity of Krug Rose Champagne

A Rose Champagne that only Krug Champagne could imagine.

Krug Champagne is without question one of the greatest Champagne Houses. Their style and dedication to the philosophy of their founder, Joseph Krug, has led this house for decades.

The core philosophy of Krug is the art of the blending. Taking a base vintage and adding in reserve wines to great depth and character that deepens and accentuate the wine, allowing it to evolve and become more complex and engaging as time passes in the bottle.

Rose Champagne is a relatively new venture at Krug, which dates back to 1843. Created by the fifth generation at Krug, brothers Remi and Henri introduced Krug Rose based on the 1976 harvest and finally released in 1983. This laid the foundation for Krug Rose. A complex blend of reserve wines and base vintage, akin to the famed and beloved Grande Cuvee, with six to seven years of bottle aging before disgorgement. Bolstered by traditionally macerated Pinot Noir still wine from Clos d’Ambonnay, Krug Rose is a powerhouse and an alternative to red wine in terms of textures and power.

The Rose 24th Edition in fact includes 71% reserve wines spanning 7 different years from 2006 to 2012 with a final blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 32% Meunier and 28% Chardonnay. With 11% of still Pinot Noir from the famed Clos d’Ambonnay. This is with ease, one of the finest and most striking renditions of this Champagne yet.

“I always love Krug Rosé, but this may well be my favorite iteration of this bottling I have ever had the pleasure to taste.” - John Gilman

Krug is the only luxury Champagne in the market today that is still producing half bottles of their iconic non-vintage Grande Cuvee and Rose. Alas, the demand for Krug this year has been unlike anything we have ever seen and Grande Cuvee is sold out.  These are the last few cases of Rose in half bottles that we have and we do not anticipate being able to acquire anymore of the phenomenal 24th Edition.

Cheers,

Jeremy
