An admirably discreet application of wood sets off the liqueur-like aromas of plum spice and warm earth and plenty of floral elements. There is excellent intensity to the powerful more concentrated and more serious medium-bodied flavors that exude evident minerality on the firm palate coating and equally austere finale. This should be lovely in time though it is a wine that will require at least 5-ish or so years of patience and reward a decade plus. (Drink starting 2028)

Offering up rich aromas of blackberries cassis smoked meats orange rind and coffee the 2018 Fixin 1er Cru Clos de la Perrière is medium to full-bodied fleshy and seamless with powdery tannins lively acids and a perfumed finish. It's an elegant middle-weight in this warm vintage.
