Pure and complete Morey's 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières unwinds in the glass with notes of pear lime zest white flowers wet stones vanilla pod freshly baked bread and struck match. Medium to full-bodied satiny and incisive it's taut and chiseled with a concentrated core of fruit and a long mineral finish. The 2022 vintage has turned out very nicely at Domaine Pierre Morey where Anne Morey presides over this 11-hectare benchmark estate. Farming is organic certified as such since 1992. Whites are fermented with a healthy amount of lees in barrel seeing two winters on the lees and reds (where Anne has really raised the level) are destemmed seeing classical macerations. In both colors the Morey style eschews extremes whether of late or early picking or extraction or infusion to produce some of the region's most classic wines. Published: Jan 18 2024
According to Anne Morey earth and fire are the elements of Perrières; she describes the vineyard as a heap of stones with vines growing straight out of the stones. The domaine has 0.52ha on the border with Puligny at the top of the slope. This site delivered a magical result in 2022 with an aroma of ripe nectarines beeswax and lemon peel. There is tension but also power and breadth to this delicious wine. Wait five years to open and drink it over the following two decades. (Drink between 2030 - 2060) By Charles Curtis MW 7/7/2023
An attractive yellow tint. This is a laid back Perrières but so obviously has all the qualities which it should have and with a huge volume of fruit on the palate very balanced an extremely smart wine with a most graceful style as well as the power. The apples return behind deliciously. By Jasper Morris 10/1/2023
