2022 is the first year of tressage trials just in this vineyard. Medium deep purple. Very elegant more perfumed than you expect from Chaumes. Changes the texture too more supple less alcohol. The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru comes from vines that for the first time were not hedged. The detailed bouquet unfurls in the glass: violet-tinged red fruit a little more Pinoté than some of Chuerlin's other cuvées. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet and candied entry. Vanilla and orange sorbet percolate through the red and black fruit. The 50% new oak is perhaps a little vocal on the finish but will assimilate with time. Very fine.
