Vinous: 95-97 Points
The 2020 Montrachet Grand Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) has a complex bouquet with orchard fruit crushed rock orange blossom and light liquorice scents in the background lending a touch of exoticism. The palate is very well balanced with great depth and dimension. Perfectly judged acidity quite powerful on the finish this is a multi-layered Montrachet that will require several years in bottle. Love the flintiness on the aftertaste! (Drink between 2026-2055)
Burghound: 94-97 Points
Here the wood treatment is no longer subtle though it stops short of fighting with the wonderfully broad-ranging nose of lemon confit jasmine tea acacia blossom and an abundance of spice elements. There is superb density and almost painful intensity to the palate staining big-bodied flavors that deliver massive persistence on the perfectly balanced finale. This strikingly pretty Montrachet is indisputably constructed for the very long haul and I would recommend not touching a bottle for at least ten years. In sum this is a stunning wine of class and grace. (Drink starting 2035)
