The 2020 Branco Côrte is all Viosinho aged for seven months in new French oak. It comes in very dry (0.6 grams of residual sugar) and at 13.5% alcohol. Nicely done but somewhat extravagantly priced this is a Viosinho that shows some elegance and depth. It is very well balanced. There's not a lot of energy though and the finish is modest. It started great but it flattened a little with air and warmth. It should make a lovely and understated food wine that everyone will love at the table but I wonder if it does enough to justify its price category. To definitively answer that question we'll probably need to see some evidence that it ages and improves over the next few years. Right now it is just nice but it needs to be better than that. I have my doubts. Let's be a little conservative for the moment in both evaluation and drinking window.
