This beautiful estate in the Torto valley used to supply Delaforce with sumptuous tawnies. It is is now out on its own (under French ownership) and continues to age wines conscientiously in the Douro. Pale amber-tawny in colour with a touch of orange too; mature savoury and a touch leathery on the nose showing great complexity with soft smooth suave fruit a touch of Douro rusticity and great texture and presence all the way through to the finish which goes on and on. he NV 20 Years Old Tawny Port is a field blend from old vines coming in with 130 grams of residual sugar and a bar-top cork. Even sweeter than the 10 Years Tawny this issue this happily adds some concentration to soak up a little of the sugar. It is still in the same style?dominated by its sugar rather fresh not particularly intense and with the typical complexity of a mature Tawny relegated to the background. This does add a little complexity though and its extra concentration is very welcome. On the whole this lush and sexy Tawny drinks well tastes great and is a lot of fun. I'm not sure it does enough to completely justify the price spike over the 10 Years this issue but it is mostly more interesting. Approximately 5500 bottles were produced in March 2020. Not imported this runs around 51 euros in Portugal.
