SLOAN Estate Winery is nestled in the eastern hills of the Rutherford appellation of Napa Valley. Planted in 1997 to just under 14 acres of vines the vineyard is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The unique layout and direction of the rolling slopes provide for warmth and sunshine to achieve optimal ripeness and physiological tannin maturity. With David Abreu leading the cultivation of the vineyard Martha McClellan and her team in the winery and Michel Rolland as the consulting oenologist the SLOAN Estate team is devoted to making the finest wines possible that are true to the unique characteristics of the hillside estate vineyard."
"The 2011 ASTERISK is a drop-dead gorgeous wine especially for a year that was so challenging. Freshly cut flowers mint super-ripe red berries and crushed rocks are totally alive in the glass in a wine that stands out for its energy vibrancy and delineation. Fine grained tannins support the polished impeccable finish. The 2011 Asterisk is a bit medium in body by Sloan standards but it is notable for its balance and class. Sweet tobacco licorice and savory herbs linger on the intensely aromatic high-toned finish."v
