Shimmering ruby-red. Intensely perfumed red and blue fruit and floral scents pick up exotic spice incense and smoky mineral notes as the wine opens up. At once concentrated and energetic in style offering palate-staining Chambord blueberry cherry cola spicecake and floral pastille flavors that deepen through the back half. The red fruit and floral qualities drive a wonderfully long finely etched finish framed by slowly building polished tannins. Under the watch of owner Brian Talley and winemaker Eric Johnson this consistently excellent winery has been going from strength to strength in recent years. It has been a no-brainer to count Talley as one of the New World?s top producers of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for years now. That said these vibrant 2019s is easily one of the most impressive sets of wines that I have had from Talley in the past two decades I have been tasting and drinking them. I have had great luck with older Pinots and Chardonnays here and think that these 2019s will be especially age-worthy based on their balance and energy. They are also quite expressive now meaning that while patience is advised it isn?t required. Grenache is a relatively new member of the lineup at Talley and so far the results are extremely impressive. There isn?t much to go around but I have my fingers crossed that more will come online in the future. -- Josh Raynolds

Darker berry fruits as well as camphor leather white flowers and underbrush nuances all emerge from the 2019 Pinot Noir Rosemary's Vineyard a medium-bodied beautifully balanced bright almost racy Pinot Noir that will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age. All destemmed and aged 15 months in 35% new French oak it should have well over a decade of longevity. (Drink between 2023-2033)

An even spicier combination features notes of fresh tobacco briar and the essence of red cherry. There is excellent energy to the solidly concentrated middle weight flavors that are plump round and seductively textured while displaying fine length on the balanced finale. This would benefit from having better depth but more will almost certainly develop if this is held for another 5 to 7 years. Lovely. (Drink starting 2027)
