A fine bright even purple bizarrely accessible in 2019. A slightly toasty reduction. Very sensual absolutely delicious all the way through the oak adding a little touch of charm. Not the most massive but certainly very long. We played around with tasting from various barrels: From new Rousseau ?video? the wine came over as much more massive less aromatic and with a slightly burning feel at the back. From Rousseau ?alto? the extra weight was there but more finesse and a much longer finish. Apparently it is usually the other way round between these two types of barrel.
jmA flashy version this boasts vanilla and toasty oak aromas and flavors with macerated black cherry plum licorice and mint. Supple and refined with a long spice- and mineral-tinged aftertaste. So harmonious that it feels approachable now but be patient. Best from 2025 through 2042. 108 cases made.
